Who Should Choose Sonos Roam 2?

Choose Roam 2 when portability matters more than maximum output. At only 0.95 lb, it is much easier to carry than larger portable speakers while still integrating with the Sonos system at home.

It is well suited to travel, poolside listening, patios, kitchens, offices, bedrooms, camping, and other places where a compact battery-powered speaker is more practical.

Two-Amplifier Acoustic Design

Roam 2 uses two Class-H amplifiers matched to one racetrack midwoofer and one tweeter. The midwoofer handles midrange and low-frequency output, while the tweeter reproduces higher frequencies.

Automatic Trueplay

Automatic Trueplay evaluates the speaker's surroundings and adjusts playback based on placement, orientation, and content. It works over both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth after being enabled in the Sonos app.

Wi-Fi at Home, Bluetooth on the Go

When connected to Wi-Fi, Roam 2 supports Sonos multi-room playback, the Sonos app, Apple AirPlay 2, Automatic Trueplay, Sound Swap, and compatible voice services.

Bluetooth provides direct playback from compatible phones, tablets, and computers when you are away from your home network.

IP67 Waterproof and Dustproof Protection

Roam 2 is rated IP67 for dust and water protection. Sonos states that it can be submerged in up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes.

This makes it suitable for poolside use, patios, travel, and everyday outdoor listening, but it should still be dried after exposure and should not be treated as a permanently installed outdoor speaker.

Up to 10 Hours of Battery Life

The built-in 5000 mAh lithium-ion battery provides up to 10 hours of continuous playback at moderate volume. Sonos also specifies up to 10 days of battery retention in sleep mode.

Actual runtime varies with volume, Bluetooth use, temperature, and other operating conditions.

USB-C and Qi Wireless Charging

Roam 2 includes a USB-C to USB-C charging cable and can also charge on compatible Qi-certified wireless chargers or the optional Sonos Roam Wireless Charger.

The USB-C port supports up to 15W at 5V/3A. A USB-C power adapter is not included.

Sound Swap

When Roam 2 is connected to your Sonos system over Wi-Fi, press and hold the Play/Pause button to move audio between Roam 2 and the nearest compatible Sonos speaker.

Voice Control

The built-in far-field microphone array supports Sonos Voice Control and Amazon Alexa where available. The microphones also support Automatic Trueplay tuning.

Stereo Pairing

Two Roam 2 speakers can be configured as a stereo pair when both are connected to Wi-Fi.

Bluetooth audio can play through a Roam 2 stereo pair while the speakers remain connected to Wi-Fi. Stereo pairing is not available when the speakers are away from Wi-Fi.

Upright or Horizontal Placement

Roam 2 can be positioned upright to save space or laid horizontally for additional stability. Automatic Trueplay adjusts the sound to account for orientation and surroundings.
