Strong SR-WMS-6U Wall Mount Rack 6U Locking Swing Out

Product Details

Secure 6U Rack Storage Without Giving Up Service Access

The Strong SR-WMS-6U is a fully assembled 6U wall-mount rack designed for networking, surveillance, AV, and control equipment where floor space is limited. Its integrated swing-out section provides rear access for cabling and service, while locking front, side, and swing sections help protect installed equipment.

It works well for compact network closets, structured wiring locations, NVR and DVR systems, switches, patch panels, controllers, power equipment, and smaller AV systems in homes, offices, and other technical spaces.

Who Should Choose the SR-WMS-6U?

Choose this rack when you need a compact wall-mounted enclosure for a small stack of 19" rack equipment and want easier access to the back of the gear than a fixed wall cabinet provides.

It is especially useful for systems containing network switches, patch panels, NVRs or DVRs, controllers, small power devices, and other rack-compatible equipment that needs to stay organized, ventilated, and protected.

If your equipment requires more than 6U of rack space, significantly greater internal depth, or more than 150 lb of installed load, choose a larger rack instead.

Swing-Out Rear Access

The SR-WMS-6U includes the swing kit as part of the complete rack system. The cabinet can swing away from the wall to improve access to rear connections, cable terminations, and equipment during maintenance.

Hardened steel hinge pins and the welded frame are designed to maintain alignment and reduce sag as the rack is used.

Locking Access and Reversible Door

The front door, removable side panels, and swing section use locking latches to help restrict access to installed equipment.

The front door uses tinted tempered glass and can be removed and reversed so the hinge direction can be configured for the room layout. Strong's newer design also uses removable wall brackets to simplify changing the swing direction.

Rack Depth and Equipment Fit

The rack provides approximately 14" between the front and rear equipment rails, while Strong lists approximately 19" from the front rail to the wall. Overall cabinet depth is approximately 22.91".

Before ordering, compare these dimensions with the complete depth of each device, including rear power plugs, Ethernet connectors, HDMI cables, BNC connectors, cable bend radius, and any front handles or knobs.

A device may be described as 1U or 2U and still be too deep for the available cabinet space, so rack-unit height alone does not confirm compatibility.

Standard 19-Inch Rack Equipment

The rack uses an EIA-310-D rack-hole pattern for compatible 19" rack-mounted equipment. Rails are marked with U positions to make equipment placement easier from the front or rear.

Non-rack-mount equipment may require a compatible rack shelf, which is sold separately.

Cable Management

Removable and knockout panels on the rack and swing section provide multiple cable-entry paths. Slots along the equipment rails also help organize wiring inside the enclosure.

Plan cable routing so there is sufficient slack for the rack to swing open without pulling network, power, video, audio, or control connections.

Cooling and Airflow

The rack has a vented top and base to support passive airflow. Strong also provides top ventilation designed to accept a compatible Cool Components fan kit when active cooling is needed.

The fan kit is not included. Cooling requirements depend on the heat output of the installed equipment, room temperature, airflow around the cabinet, and how heavily the rack is populated.

Grounding

Strong provides a field wiring ground terminal on the bottom panel. The manufacturer's installation guide specifies using a UL Listed closed-loop connector with minimum 12 AWG grounding wire, along with the specified hardware.

Electrical and grounding work should follow applicable electrical codes and the equipment manufacturer's requirements.
