Who Should Choose the SM-T-XL?

Choose this mount when you have a large or heavy compatible TV and want tilt adjustment without the extra depth and moving arms of a full-motion mount. It is especially useful when the TV is mounted somewhat above eye level or where glare reduction is important.

If your TV needs to turn toward different seating positions or pull away from the wall, choose a full-motion mount instead. TV and VESA Compatibility

Screen size alone does not confirm compatibility. Your TV must weigh no more than 250 lb and use one of the mounting patterns Strong lists for the SM-T-XL.

Strong currently lists 200 × 300, 300 × 200, 300 × 300, 400 × 200, 400 × 300, 400 × 400, 500 × 400, 500 × 500, 600 × 400, 600 × 500, 600 × 600, 700 × 500, 700 × 600, 700 × 700, 800 × 500, 800 × 600, 800 × 700, 900 × 700, and 1000 × 700 mm.

Confirm your TV's exact VESA pattern before ordering. Strong also notes that the supplied XL mounting hardware includes bolts only through M8. Some larger TVs may require M10 mounting bolts, which are not included and must be matched to the TV manufacturer's requirements.

Tilt and Post-Install Leveling

Strong's current product specifications list 9° forward and 9° backward tilt for the SM-T-XL. Ratcheting adjustment levers on the mounting arms are used to set and secure the viewing angle.

Adjustment screws at the top of each arm provide approximately ±5° of horizontal micro-adjustment so the TV can be fine-tuned after installation.

This leveling feature is intended for small alignment corrections, not general vertical repositioning of the entire display.

Low-Profile 3 mm Steel Construction

The XL model uses 3 mm powder-coated steel and sits approximately 2.63" from the wall. This gives a relatively shallow installation while maintaining the 250 lb rated load capacity.

Because the TV remains close to the wall, check power plugs, HDMI connectors, adapters, cable bend radius, and rear ventilation clearance before installation.

LokTight Locking Tabs

Built-in rotating locking tabs secure the TV arms to the wall plate after installation. A compatible locking device may also be added where additional access control is desired.

A padlock is not included.

Installation and Wall Requirements

The mounting surface must safely support the mount, TV, and all attached hardware. Strong's manual recommends using all six lag bolts across three wood studs for this XL wall plate.

For concrete installations, Strong specifies a minimum concrete density of 2000 psi. For concrete block, there must be at least 1-3/8" of usable concrete thickness for the supplied anchors, and anchors must not be installed into mortar joints.

Do not rely on drywall alone as the structural mounting surface. Strong also recommends installation by a qualified professional for this model because of the size and possible weight of the display.

Does this mount swivel or extend?

No. The SM-T-XL is a tilt mount. It does not provide side-to-side swivel or extension away from the wall.

Can it be mounted directly to drywall?

No. Drywall alone is not the structural mounting surface. The mount must be securely attached to suitable wood framing, concrete, or another supporting structure rated for the complete load.

Can the mount be locked?

Yes. Built-in LokTight rotating tabs lock the mounting arms to the wall plate. A compatible padlock or locking device may be added, but a padlock is not included.

Is this an outdoor TV mount?

The official manufacturer documentation reviewed does not specify an outdoor weather rating for the SM-T-XL. It should not be treated as an outdoor-rated mount.
