Who Should Choose Sonos Port?

Choose Port when you already have an amplifier, receiver, stereo system, or powered speakers that you want to keep, but you want to add Sonos streaming and multi-room control.

It is particularly useful for traditional Hi-Fi systems, turntable setups, rack-based audio systems, and existing whole-home audio zones where replacing the amplifier or speakers is unnecessary.

Port Does Not Power Passive Speakers

Sonos Port is a source component, not a power amplifier. Passive speakers still require a compatible receiver or amplifier.

If you need a Sonos component that directly powers passive speakers, Sonos Amp is the more appropriate choice.

Analog RCA and Digital Coax Outputs

Connect Port to an existing amplifier or receiver using its stereo RCA analog line output, or use the digital coaxial output when your downstream equipment has a compatible digital input.

The analog output uses Port's internal digital-to-analog conversion, while the coaxial connection allows compatible downstream equipment to handle digital conversion.

Fixed, Variable, or Pass-Through Output

Port provides three line-out operating modes:

• Fixed: Volume is controlled by the connected amplifier or receiver.
• Variable: Volume can be controlled from the Sonos app.
• Pass-Through: Port remains at fixed output while compatible downstream equipment receives volume commands.

RCA Line-In for Turntables and Other Sources

The auto-detecting stereo RCA input lets you connect compatible analog sources such as CD players, audio components, or a turntable with a built-in or external phono preamp.

Once connected, the line-in source can be selected in the Sonos app and played through Port or shared with other compatible Sonos rooms.

Automatic 12V Trigger

Port includes a 12V trigger output rated at 200 mA. When connected to a compatible amplifier's trigger input, it can bring the amplifier out of standby automatically when playback begins.

This reduces the need to manually power on compatible downstream amplification before listening.

Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and AirPlay 2

Port connects to your network through Wi-Fi or either of its two 10/100 Ethernet ports. Apple AirPlay 2 is supported from compatible Apple devices.
