It is a commercial 70V surface mount speaker made for indoor and outdoor installs where reliability matters, patios, retail storefronts, hotel walkways, gyms, classrooms, and even high-moisture areas like spas or indoor pool spaces.

The enclosure is UV-protected ABS with a metal grille, built to take real-world abuse without looking bulky. It is IP65 water-resistant, so it is designed to handle dust and water contact in demanding environments. That makes it a practical choice for under-awning installs where weather and splash are part of daily life.

For sound, the S5 uses a 4.5 inch polypropylene woofer with a rubber surround for durability and consistent performance, plus a 0.75 inch silk membrane tweeter for smooth highs and strong speech intelligibility. It delivers 40W RMS, 92 dB sensitivity, and a 90Hz to 16kHz frequency response that works well for background music, zone fill, and paging coverage.

System design is flexible. You can run it on distributed audio lines using the built-in transformer taps, or keep it simple with a standard amp using the 8 ohm bypass. Tap options are straightforward:

Installation is one of the best parts. The included 180° surface mount bracket makes it easy to mount under awnings, overhangs, and other structures, then aim it exactly where you need coverage. Wiring is clean and secure via a Phoenix Euroblock 4-pin screw terminal, which most commercial installers prefer for fast, reliable terminations.
