KEF KC92BL Dual 9 Inch 1000W RMS Powered Subwoofer

Product Details

Deep, Controlled Bass From a Compact Sealed Cabinet

The KEF KC92 is a powered subwoofer designed for serious music and home theater systems where deep bass, high output, and compact size all matter. It uses two opposing 9" drivers in a force-cancelling configuration, powered by 1000W RMS of built-in Class D amplification.

KEF specifies frequency response down to 11 Hz and maximum output of 110 dB, giving the KC92 substantial low-frequency capability without requiring an oversized cabinet.

Key Specifications

  • Sold as: One powered subwoofer
  • Design: Sealed, force-cancelling
  • Drivers: 2 × 9"
  • Amplifier: Built-in Class D
  • Amplifier power: 1000W RMS total, 2 × 500W RMS
  • Frequency response: 11 Hz–200 Hz (±3 dB)
  • Maximum output: 110 dB
  • Variable low-pass filter: 40–140 Hz, plus LFE mode
  • Power requirements: 100–240V AC, 50/60 Hz
  • Cabinet: Compact sealed enclosure

Who Should Choose the KC92?

Choose the KC92 when you want deep bass and high output without placing a very large subwoofer in the room. It works well in high-performance stereo systems, dedicated home theaters, living rooms, and systems where cabinet size and appearance matter alongside bass capability.

The KC92 is also useful when your main speakers benefit from a subwoofer that can integrate at both very low frequencies and higher crossover points.

Dual 9-Inch Force-Cancelling Drivers

The KC92 places its two 9" drivers back-to-back in a force-cancelling configuration. The opposing driver motion helps neutralize reactive forces and reduce cabinet vibration while maintaining high output.

KEF uses hybrid aluminum-and-paper cones, substantial motor systems, vented voice coils, and P-Flex Surround technology to help the drivers maintain controlled movement at high excursion.

1000W RMS Built-In Amplification

The KC92 includes two 500W Class D amplifier channels for a total of 1000W RMS. This is a legitimate KEF-published RMS amplifier-output specification.

No external power amplifier is required. The KC92 only needs an audio connection from your system and AC power.

11 Hz Extension and 110 dB Output

KEF specifies a frequency response of 11 Hz–200 Hz at ±3 dB and maximum output of 110 dB measured at 1 meter.

Actual bass response in your room will still depend on placement, room dimensions, listening position, crossover settings, and room acoustics.

Music Integrity Engine and iBX

KEF's Music Integrity Engine uses model-specific DSP algorithms to optimize the interaction between the drivers, amplifier, and enclosure.

iBX Intelligent Bass Extension analyzes the incoming signal and adjusts operation to help maintain bass extension and dynamics across different listening levels.

Flexible Inputs for AV and Stereo Systems

The KC92 supports conventional RCA line-level/LFE input as well as speaker-level input, making it compatible with a wide range of AV receivers, processors, preamps, integrated amplifiers, and stereo systems.

KEF SmartConnect automatically detects whether one or two RCA cables are connected and adjusts input gain accordingly, so a Y-adapter is not required for a single RCA connection.

Line Output With High-Pass Filtering

The KC92 also includes a line output with selectable high-pass filtering. This can be useful in stereo systems where you want the KC92 to handle low frequencies while reducing the bass sent onward to smaller main speakers.

Optional Wireless Operation

The KC92 does not include built-in wireless audio. Wireless operation requires the optional KEF KW1 Wireless Subwoofer Adapter Kit, which connects through the dedicated expansion port.

The KC92 still requires AC power even when the KW1 is used.

Five Placement EQ Settings

The KC92 provides five placement EQ options to help adapt bass response to different room positions. KEF also includes an Apartment Mode that reduces very-low-frequency output below approximately 40 Hz when reducing bass transmission to neighboring rooms is important.

Placement Clearance

The KC92 is side-firing. KEF specifies at least 3" (77 mm) of clearance between each driver and any wall or obstruction.

Start with placement near the front of the room, then compare free-space, wall, and corner positions while adjusting EQ, phase, crossover, and level for the smoothest integration.

  • Variable crossover control
  • Phase control
  • Placement EQ
  • Volume control
  • Ground lift
  • 12V trigger input
  • LFE / line-input mode
  • Speaker-level input
  • Line output with high-pass filter
  • Expansion port for optional KW1
