KEF Ci200.2CR 8 Inch Slim-Bezel In-Ceiling Speaker
Product Details
Fuller KEF Sound From a Shallow 8-Inch Ceiling Speaker
The KEF Ci200.2CR is a passive 8" round in-ceiling speaker sold individually for whole-home audio, stereo zones, TV audio, and other applications where you want more low-frequency capability than smaller architectural speakers without requiring a deep ceiling cavity.
Its Uni-Q driver array places the 0.6" aluminum tweeter at the acoustic center of the 8" woofer to help provide wide, consistent coverage across the listening area.

Who Should Choose the Ci200.2CR?
Choose the Ci200.2CR when you want a larger 8" architectural speaker with stronger published low-frequency extension than smaller Ci-C models, while still keeping installation depth under 4".
It works well for music zones, living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, TV audio, and larger distributed-audio areas where a bigger driver and higher output capability are useful.
For conventional stereo playback, order two speakers. Larger rooms or multi-room systems may require additional speakers depending on ceiling height, placement, and listening goals.
Passive Speaker and Amplifier Requirements
The Ci200.2CR is completely passive. It does not include a built-in amplifier, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, streaming, or app control.
KEF recommends 10–125 W of amplifier power and specifies an 8-ohm nominal impedance. Connect it to a compatible amplifier or AV receiver using appropriate in-wall rated speaker wire.
The 10–125 W figure is KEF's recommended amplifier range, not an RMS or peak power-handling specification.
Uni-Q With 115-Degree Coverage
The Ci200.2CR combines an 8" Uni-Q driver with a 0.6" aluminum tweeter positioned at its acoustic center. KEF also uses its Tangerine Waveguide to help control high-frequency dispersion.
KEF specifies approximately 115° nominal coverage, helping provide broad sound across the listening area without requiring a narrow listening position.
Frequency Response and System Setup
KEF specifies an open-backed frequency response of 45 Hz–20 kHz at ±6 dB and a broader 35 Hz–45 kHz range at -10 dB. KEF recommends a 40 Hz high-pass filter.
A subwoofer is optional for normal music and whole-home audio, but it can provide deeper and more controlled bass for home theater or systems where stronger low-frequency output is desired.
Shallow Installation for an 8-Inch Speaker
- External diameter: 289.6 mm (11.4")
- Overall depth: 103.3 mm (4.07")
- Cutout diameter: 240 mm (9.45")
- Mounting depth: 97.2 mm (3.83")
- Supported mounting thickness: 6–37 mm (0.24–1.46")
- Net weight: Approximately 1.7 kg (3.7 lb)
Check joists, wiring, plumbing, HVAC, insulation, and available ceiling cavity depth before cutting the installation opening.
Optional Rough-In Frame and Rear Enclosure
KEF lists the RIF200R rough-in frame and RNC200R rear enclosure as optional accessories for the Ci200.2CR. Both are sold separately.
KEF specifies approximately 60 liters as the ideal rear volume and 30 liters as the minimum rear volume.
IP64 Environmental Protection
The Ci200.2CR is IP64 certified and uses weather-resistant components plus UV-protected finishes. This makes it more suitable for humid and semi-protected applications than a speaker without an environmental rating.
IP64 does not mean waterproof or suitable for immersion. The ceiling structure, wiring, and connected equipment must also be appropriate for the environment.
Ultra-Thin Bezel and Magnetic Grille
KEF's Ultra-Thin Bezel keeps the visible edge narrow, while the magnetic grille can be painted to better match the surrounding ceiling finish.
What's Included?
