Who Should Not Buy This?
This is not the best choice for a basic whole-home music zone or for reproducing stereo sound from one ceiling speaker. It is a single-channel surround speaker, not a dual-voice-coil stereo model.
For the main front left and right channels, use properly positioned front-stage speakers instead. A dedicated Episode in-wall, in-ceiling, or traditional home theater speaker will usually provide more accurate front imaging.

Placement Guidance

For rear surrounds, place them behind the main seating position with similar spacing and distance on both sides. Avoid locating one speaker much closer to the listeners than the other unless the receiver can properly compensate.
The ideal location depends on ceiling height, seat position, number of rows, front-speaker placement, and the overall channel layout. Plan every theater channel before cutting the ceiling.
Installation Considerations
Before making the cutout, confirm that there is enough room for the 9.7-inch opening, 5.2-inch speaker depth, mounting mechanism, wiring, and at least the recommended air volume behind the speaker.
Check carefully for joists, pipes, electrical wiring, HVAC ducts, lighting, and other hidden obstructions. Also confirm that both surround locations can be positioned symmetrically around the seating area.
Maintain correct speaker-wire polarity and connect each SIG-78-ICSURR to one assigned surround channel from the AV receiver or amplifier. This is not a dual-voice-coil speaker and should not receive separate left and right channels through one unit.

Does It Still Need a Subwoofer?

Use the AV receiver’s bass management to route low-frequency effects and deeper bass to one or more properly sized subwoofers. The correct crossover should be determined through calibration and room measurements rather than relying only on the published frequency response.
