The Episode ESS-6-BLK is a passive speaker selector that connects one stereo amplifier or receiver to as many as six pairs of speakers. Each zone can be switched on or off from the front panel, allowing you to play any pair, multiple pairs, or all connected pairs together.

Engage the AMP PROTECTION switch when multiple speaker pairs are playing together unless every zone uses properly configured impedance-matching volume controls. The protection circuit presents approximately a 4-ohm load, so the connected amplifier must be rated for 4-ohm operation.

If the amplifier has separate A and B speaker outputs, connect the ESS-6-BLK to the A output only. Using both outputs may create an unsafe amplifier load.

Zone and Volume Control

The six front-panel buttons switch each speaker pair on or off. They do not provide individual volume adjustment. The amplifier controls the master volume for every active zone.

Separate impedance-matching in-wall volume controls may be added when individual room volume adjustment is required.

Is the ESS-6-BLK powered?

No. It is a passive switching accessory and does not require AC power. A separate stereo amplifier or receiver is required.

Can every room play different music?

No. Every active zone receives the same stereo source from the connected amplifier. Independent sources require a multi-zone amplifier or audio matrix.

Does each zone have its own volume control?

Does it support Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or app control?

No. It is a manual passive speaker selector with no wireless, network, streaming, or app functions.

Can it be used with 70V speakers?

No. It is intended for conventional 4-ohm and 8-ohm passive speakers, not 70V or 100V systems.

What speaker wire does it accept?

The removable connectors support 14-22 AWG stranded copper wire. Episode recommends 16 AWG for typical installations.

What should I confirm before ordering?
