Route and Fine-Tune Audio Across Multiple Zones

The Episode EA-COM-DSP-8-4 is an 8x4 digital signal processor for managing music, microphones, paging, and other audio sources across up to four mono or two stereo output zones.

This is a signal processor, not a power amplifier. Its outputs are line level, so separate amplification is required before connecting passive speakers.

Priority and ducking functions allow music to automatically lower when a paging microphone, announcement, or other higher-priority source becomes active.

MoIP, Network, and Control

The EA-COM-DSP-8-4 supports compatible MoIP network audio, allowing it to receive network audio streams and transmit local sources onto the MoIP network.

Ethernet also provides local web-based configuration, OvrC remote management, and Control4 SDDP support. The unit is AC powered and is not powered through PoE.

Bluetooth and Streaming

Bluetooth, Wi-Fi music streaming, and streaming services are not built into the DSP. Compatible Episode Business Music wall plates or separate audio sources can be added when Bluetooth or other source types are required.

Speaker and Amplifier Compatibility

The four outputs are balanced line-level connections and cannot power speakers directly. Connect them to suitable audio amplifiers based on the speaker system and required power.

The DSP itself does not provide 4-ohm, 8-ohm, 70V, or 100V speaker outputs. Those specifications are determined by the amplifier connected after the DSP.

Is the EA-COM-DSP-8-4 an amplifier?

No. It is a digital signal processor with line-level outputs. Separate power amplifiers are required to drive passive speakers.

What does MoIP support provide?

It can receive two stereo MoIP streams and transmit up to four stereo MoIP streams using compatible MoIP network equipment.

Is it powered by PoE?

No. The DSP uses AC power. Ethernet is used for networking, configuration, MoIP, OvrC, and control functions.

Can it connect directly to 70V or 100V speakers?

No. Its outputs are line level. A separate amplifier with the appropriate 70V, 100V, 4-ohm, or 8-ohm output is required.

Can different sources play in different zones?

Yes. Fully matrixed routing allows compatible sources to be assigned and mixed independently across the available outputs.
