Explore the Advantages of Eaton Tripp Lite SMART500RT1U 1U Rackmount UPS AVR 500VA 300W

Description

The Eaton Tripp Lite SmartPro SMART500RT1U is built for compact racks and network closets where a full-size UPS is overkill, but you still need real protection and a clean shutdown window. It is a 500VA 300W 120V line interactive UPS that fits in 1U of rack space and can also be used in a tower configuration with the included accessories.

For power stability, AVR is the key feature. It maintains regulated 120V output during brownouts as low as 90V without switching to battery, which reduces battery wear and helps keep switches, routers, and small servers from rebooting during voltage dips. When power fails, it switches to battery in milliseconds and provides practical runtime, about 14.6 minutes at half load and about 3.2 minutes at full load, giving you time to ride through brief outages or shut down safely.

Outlet configuration is rack-friendly and purposeful. You get six UPS-supported NEMA 5-15R outlets with surge protection for your critical devices, plus one surge-only outlet for peripherals that do not need battery backup. The single outlet load bank can be individually controlled through the software interface, which is useful for rebooting a frozen device on demand or shedding less critical loads to extend battery runtime for the gear that matters most.

Monitoring and management options cover both simple and advanced setups. Built-in USB and RS-232 DB9 ports support UPS monitoring and safe automatic shutdown, and the unit includes PowerAlert software support with the necessary cabling. If you need network-based visibility, the accessory slot supports an optional SNMP network card, so you can add remote monitoring and alerts without swapping UPS models.

For day-to-day operations, it runs efficiently at up to 97% line-mode efficiency, helping reduce heat in tight racks. It also includes EMI RFI filtering and surge suppression to help protect equipment from line noise and transient surges. On the safety side, the EPO interface provides a way to instantly power off the UPS and connected loads during an emergency. Clear LED indicators and audible alarms provide quick status at a glance.
