Explore the Advantages of Eaton Tripp Lite AVR550U Desktop UPS AVR 550VA 300W 8 Outlets

Description

The Eaton Tripp Lite AVR550U is built for the most common real-world need, keeping a desktop PC, workstation, or small network setup protected from power issues without taking up much space. It is a 120V, 550VA 300W line interactive UPS with Automatic Voltage Regulation, designed to smooth out brownouts and overvoltage events, and provide battery backup during outages.

AVR is the key reason this model feels more reliable than a basic standby unit. It maintains 120V nominal output across a wide 83V to 147V input range, correcting low and high voltage conditions without constantly switching to battery. That helps preserve the battery for actual outages and reduces wear from frequent cycling.

Outlet layout is practical for mixed loads. You get eight NEMA 5-15R outlets total: four provide battery backup plus surge protection for critical devices like a PC, monitor, and router, and four provide surge protection only for peripherals that do not need battery runtime, such as speakers, printers, or chargers. For surge events, you also get 316 joules of surge suppression, plus EMI RFI filtering to reduce electrical noise that can cause glitches, resets, or intermittent performance issues.

For safe shutdown automation, the AVR550U includes a HID compliant USB port and cable. That means it can integrate with operating system power management features and optional unattended shutdown software, letting you automatically save work and shut down cleanly during extended outages. It also includes single-line telephone and DSL surge suppression to help protect the data lines that can carry a surge into your equipment.

Physically, this UPS is designed to fit where people actually place these devices. The compact housing works on a desktop or mounts to the wall, and the right-angle input plug helps keep the unit close to the wall behind furniture. It runs quietly and uses clear LED indicators for fast status checks.

What’s Included
AVR550U UPS system
USB cable for monitoring and shutdown support

Benefits
You keep a PC or workstation protected from voltage swings that cause reboots and hardware wear. You get battery support for critical devices, plus surge-only outlets for everything else, so your setup stays organized. HID USB monitoring helps prevent data loss with clean automatic shutdown during longer outages, and the compact design makes it easy to place on a desk or mount on a wall.
